Sublime Lisboa – Lisbon, Portugal

Sublime Lisboa – Lisbon, Portugal

In the upmarket Amoreiras and close to well-known Avenida da Liberdade, Sublime Lisboa is a smart historical townhouse. With only fifteen rooms and suites, it makes for a very personal and intimate Lisbon experience. Couple this with an exceptional restaurant, and you have your perfect city base. It’s well placed for exploring this buzzing and atmospheric capital – within easy reach of everything Lisbon has to offer and close to historic monuments and gardens.

The extremely efficient and friendly concierge service is on hand for your every need and can put together an itinerary of the things you want to see and places you want to visit, just for you. We love the bold interiors, the quirky furniture and laid back vibe here – it’s fun and cosmopolitan.

Each room and suite is totally different in design and layout with much of the original design detail. Wooden floors, muted painted walls mixed with bright blocks of patterned wallpaper and contrasting rugs, and large windows or doors opening out onto terraces and balconies, are a feature of them all.

food

Simplicity and flavour are the main ingredients at Davvero. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing fresh and local produce and combining them in unusual but very delicious ways. The menu is full of authentic Italian dishes and Mediterranean flavours with Portuguese influences. A design masterpiece, it comfortably seats forty inside but with Lisbon’s generous summers, the outdoor terrace may be preferable during those warmer evenings.

activities

Whatever time of year you visit Lisbon, you’ll find no shortage of things to do and see. This captivating city built on seven hills, is brimming with a colourful mix of architecture – elegant townhouses, domed churches, picturesque squares – all connected by cobbled alleyways. And of course, there’s no better way to explore than on foot. You’ll come across museums, galleries, gardens and charming little boutique shops. Climb up high for some truly spectacular views across the city towards the Atlantic.

Evidence of Lisbon’s historic past is all around. The medieval Belem tower, jutting out onto the river Tagus is magnificent, and to the east the Palácio Nacional da Pena in the beautiful old royal town of Sintra makes for a good day trip. If you’re after a bit of beach life, there’s a lot of choice. The relaxed fishing town of Cascais is not far, and the white sand and chic beach bars of Costa da Caparica is just a fifteen minutes’ drive. The most westerly point of Europe is found at Cabo de Roca – and the views from the cliffs are stunning. If you’re gastronomically inclined, you’ll find a mouthwatering number of places to eat throughout the capital, from high end restaurants to little local “tascas”, where fresh seafood is never far from the menu. It’s a great city for a long weekend, or as a base to explore Portugal.
