Often called “the roof of the world”, Nepal is home to the world’s highest mountains, endowing it with some of the most spectacular scenery you’ll ever see. The spiritual heart and capital, Kathmandu is a treasure trove of temples, palaces and monasteries, and the mountains are lined with colourful villages, each with its own character.
Conservation is high on the Nepalese agenda, and a trip to one of its many national parks will reward you with an exceptional range of flora and fauna with the chance of seeing elephants, one-horned Indian rhinoceros or even a tiger. Its extreme geography also makes it a haven for adventure lovers, with climbing, mountain biking and white water rafting on many an itinerary.
