Part of the fabulously linked Espace Killy, the vast ski area of Tignes has enough varied terrain to keep every level of skier happy. Made up of a group of small villages – Les Brevières at 1500m, Tignes village at 1800m to Le Lavachet and Val Claret at 2100m and Le Lac, the largest of the five - it’s high altitude and snow sure, with the season starting earlier and ending later than many other destinations.
There are numerous ski schools for beginners and off piste and glacier skiing for experts, with everything in between. And Val d’Isère is just a short ski away. Then add into the mix a huge choice of other alpine activities, from heliskiing to dog sledding, hang gliding, ice climbing and skidoo riding and a large dose of lively spirit, it’s one of our favourite French resorts.
