Megève is one of the Alps’ most glamorous ski villages
Just a little over an hour from Geneva and dominated by the mighty Mont Blanc, Megève is one of the Alps’ more glamorous ski villages, full of old fashioned charm. Quieter than many of its sister resorts, especially during the week, it’s been attracting the Parisian smart set for over a century.
It’s easy to see why when you wander the cobbled streets dating back to the 13th century, lined with excellent restaurants and high end shops. There’s skiing to keep you happy for at least a week, with three separate ski areas that make up one of the largest ski domains in the world. Rochebrune and Mont d’Arbois are linked by a cable car or gondola, whilst you can reach Le Jaillet by a horse drawn calèche. Lower than many resorts, there’s gentle skiing through the pine forests, and after a snowfall, it’s easy to find fresh powder until late into the morning.
