Uruguay

Luxury holidays to Uruguay

South America’s smallest Spanish speaking country, Uruguay, is a relatively new country, and one that has long been in the shadow of its very much larger neighbours. Much of the country is undulating grass land and soft rolling hills – making it famous for some of the continent’s finest beef.

Sparsely populated, Uruguay’s culture is mainly influenced by its southern European settlers, evident in its art, music and dance – with tango and candombe (a traditional step with African roots) regularly performed. Carnival is also big here, often extending over a couple of months. Relatively new to tourism, Uruguayans welcome visitors with open arms.
