Dulini – Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa

Dulini – Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa

One of the leading lodges in South Africa, Dulini combines five-star luxury with unparalleled game viewing. It sits in the western reaches of the Sabi Sand Private Nature Reserve, bordering the Kruger National Park, within ten thousand five hundred hectares of bush and riverine forest. The Sabi and the Sand Rivers support an extraordinary rich and diverse wildlife and the reserve is particularly famous for its big cats. Especially leopard.

Three separate, sumptuous and exclusive lodges are spread across the reserve, each nestled in the trees by the water, where game can wander freely. Each one has a different character, but they all share the same luxe safari design and rich furnishings, but with the focus very much on the views of the bush. And you’re hosted by a first-class team who go above and beyond to make sure you have the safari of a lifetime.

activities

You can’t not feel the passion that the team at Dulini have for their surroundings and the wildlife within it, as they enthuse and inspire guests whilst guiding them around the reserve. Morning and evening game drives take you into one of South Africa’s most renowned wildlife viewing wildernesses, with expert trackers who bring the magic of the veld to life. Sightings of big cats – lion, leopard and cheetah – are frequent, and you’ll see some of Africa’s more endangered species.

For a truly immersive experience, the guided bush walks are fascinating. When you are just on your own two feet, the bush fills your senses. If you have a good camera, you should be able to get some great close-ups. And if you’re lucky you may get some shots of some of the rarer residents, such as the pangolin or aardvark. If you don’t have the latest DSLR, Dulini has a good selection of camera equipment to rent. This is certainly the place to make memories.

sustainability

Dulini is the name given to a termite mound but has a larger meaning – sanctuary or shelter. The team here see themselves as custodians of the flora and fauna of the reserve and are committed to protecting it for future generations. Dulini supports local conservation efforts and works with the local community to foster an understanding into the importance of maintaining this precious ecosystem. The majority of the team here are from local communities. Dulini also works with schools to ensure that girls remain in education.
