rooms

Classically designed with wood paneling and alpine detail, the rooms and suites are cosy and welcoming. The highlight however, is the view of the Dolomites from the large windows and balconies – it’s certainly something to wake up to. Classic Rooms are spacious and ideal for children or a couple. If you’re after more space, the larger Superior Rooms are perfect. On the ground floor, the Deluxe Garden Rooms open directly out onto the terrace and lawns, whilst the Deluxe View Rooms look out over Sassolungo.

Both these options can sleep up to four guests. The Junior Suites are intimate, with plenty of living space and can connect to other rooms for families. The Suites are even larger and can also connect with Deluxe View rooms.

food

Definitely stay here for the food. A delicious mix of Tyrolean, local Ladin, Tuscan and Mediterranean, each meal is a feast. Breakfasts are hearty and plentiful – they’ll set you up for the day, whatever you have planned. There are two restaurants, one a traditional, trattoria style, and the other, Suinsom, a Ladin inspired stube, with a Michelin star, serving tasting menus that take you on a journey through the mountains. The wine list is pretty impressive too – make sure you join one of their tasting sessions.

activities

Just a few steps from the Nive drag lift that takes you into the heart of the Val Gardena ski area – over 175km of well-groomed pistes, and the famous Sellaronda route, the Hotel Tyrol is ideally placed for some of the finest skiing in the Dolomites. More excitingly, is the prospect of a guiding session with an instructor who was once in the Italian ski team – you can book him for the day.

The Gardena valley is equally famous for its cross country skiing – there are more than 130km of trails that you can ski from the hotel. For the intrepid, there’s snowshoeing with a guide and a hunting experience with a local naturalist. Spa enthusiasts will love it here – the facilities in the hotel are wonderful, and guests can spend a day at the Merano Thermal Baths, with its 13 pools.

The region has just as much to offer in the summer, with climbing, bouldering, canyoning and the famous vie ferrate. If you’re an adrenalin junkie, the Monte Pana Zipline, over a mile long, drops 500 metres and is quite a thrill. Hiking in the mountains is one of the best pursuits – pack a picnic and spend the entire day surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery you’ll ever see.

family

Family is at the very heart of the Hotel Tyrol. As well as an exceptionally warm welcome, you’ll find the rooms and suites perfectly set up for children, a separate kid’s area with toys and games, a climbing wall, table football, and a special menu in the restaurants. The skiing is perfect for beginners too.

sustainability

The hotel is a champion of local and seasonal produce – ingredients are sourced from regional and artisanal farmers and growers.
