With wood paneled walls and floors, cosy throws and soft lighting, each of the rooms and suites is a mountain haven. And each and everyone has a stunning Dolomites view from its windows or balcony. The Double Room Standard is ideal for a couple or children, whilst the larger Double Room Ladina comes with a balcony. For further space, the Double Room Piz la Ila can sleep up to four guests, as can the even more spacious Double Room Piz La Ila Superior.
The Double Room Junior Suites Superior, the larger Double Room Panorama Junior Suites and Romantic Junior Suites have plenty of living space and can accommodate a family of four. We love the sophisticated and very romantic Suite Cocoon, with its very cool and enormous bathroom, and recommend the larger suites – Stria, Star in the Sky – for families, thanks to their spaciousness and living areas. The expansive Suite Natura Loft comes with its own sauna and wide terrace, and on the top floor, you’ll find the Suite Dolomites Mountain Spa, with a Turkish bath, sauna and a Jacuzzi on the terrace. Fanes also has a collection of contemporary chalets, which can sleep between two and five guests.
food
The restaurant 0KM is named for the minimal distance that ingredients travel from where their produced, to the table. Hotel Fanes is proud of its culinary heritage, believing that food in the Alta Badia region is the best in Italy. Traditional recipes and local dishes pepper the menu, along with some very delicious international ones too. And the sommelier is only too happy to pair the right wines for you from the impressive and well-stocked cellar.

Home to annual World Cup downhill racing, Alta Badia, in the heart of the Dolomiti Superski area, is one of Italy’s finest places to ski. And in our opinion, it’s one of the most beautiful. The slopes are just a shuttle bus away, with 130km of well-groomed pistes and an exceptional choice of mountain restaurants. Ski the Sellaronda, and you have another 400km to enjoy.
Winter pursuits here also include snowshoeing – there are 80km of well-marked trails; cross country skiing through spectacular scenery (there are over 1000km of tracks), and there are even some skating trails. Ski touring with a guide is very popular, and for those with children, some classic sledging and a ride or two in a horse drawn sleigh.
Throughout the summer, the Dolomites has an equal amount to offer the active traveller. From hiking to mountain biking, climbing the many fixed rope routes, bouldering and canyoning. The hotel even has rucksacks you can borrow. The lift system operates throughout the summer too, so it’s even easier to get up the mountain! Fanes has an excellent Spa, so you’ll want to factor in an afternoon of pampering, or perhaps an entire day.

Hotel Fanes welcomes families with open arms – just what you’d expect from a family run business. Depending on their age, up to 17, rates are reduced for children, and there’s a mini club for those over the age of four, with a range of activities. There’s a playroom open to guests and a large choice of toys and games.

Hotel Fanes has a number of initiatives in place to support its commitment to sustainable tourism. There are a number of energy saving policies, and much of the food is grown or reared on the hotel’s own farm.
