Each of the ten en suite rooms is designed and furnished uniquely. Local artefacts and paintings on the walls, they are homely and comfortable. Each comes with a patio to soak up the incredible views of the mountains. The two villas each feature a double bed, two bathrooms and a living area with a sofa bed, ideal for families travelling with children (can also accommodate one extra bed for a child).

food

With each ingredient sourced locally – fruits, cheeses and herbs featuring heavily – the menu celebrates traditional Argentinian cuisine. The signature dish of punta de espalda (a regional cut of beef) is served with pancetta and rosemary potatoes and is utterly delicious.

activities

Posada Paso de los Patos is a destination for relaxing and disconnecting. It is also a destination for adventure. For an adrenalin rush just head to La Pampa del Leonicito – an ancient dried out lake for some landsurfing (carrovelismo) – a mix of windsurfing and gokarting. Or go rafting down one of the snowmelt rivers. If you like your pursuits a little less frenetic, there are limitless hiking trails of varying difficulty into the foothills, and horse riding in the Parque Nacional El Leoncito offers fabulous views of the Andes and plains.

The region has a number of vineyards and tours and tastings can be easily organised. The park is also home to two observatories, where evening tours are offered. The skies at night here are a sight to behold – it’s one of the most magical places to gaze at the universe.

family

For families who love the wilderness and adventure, Paso de los Patos offers it all. The accommodation also works perfectly.
