A meticulously restored three storey townhouse, in the fashionable and vibrant district of Palermo Viejo, it’s a polished mix between a private home and art gallery. Sitting on a quiet, treelined block, it’s just a few steps from some of the finest eateries and shopping in Buenos Aires. The excellent staff know the district intimately, giving guests top tips and advice, making dinner reservations, as well as helping with how to get around the city. There’s a library full of tomes on Argentinian history, and a terrace for enjoying a drink before heading out.

Each of the 11 rooms is named after a cultural figure and icon of Argentinian life, filled with memorabilia – from Eva Perón to Manuel Belgrano. Hardwood floors, supremely comfortable beds, colourful walls adorned with original portraits and artwork, and stylish bathrooms, lend a unique authenticity to each and every one of them.

Only breakfast is served here – and it is plentiful. Being in the foodie district of Palermo Viejo, Legado Mitico is surrounded by cafés and restaurants – the choice is dizzying. The staff will willingly make suggestions and reserve a table for you.

Palermo Viejo is one of the most vibrant and fashionable districts in Buenos Aires. Full of top-tier dining and parrillas, boutiques and colourful street art, there’s much to experience and explore. Palermo Soho is famous for its cobblestone streets and shopping, whilst Palermo Hollywood is the place to go in the evening for its pulsing nightlife. For browsing, visit the Mercado de las Pulgas, an antique flea market, or the bohemian Feria de Plaza Serrano, and for dancing, take a tango lesson at La Viruta Tango Club.
