Palacio Duhau – Argentina
On a tree lined avenue, in the upscale and central barrio of Recoleta, Palacio Duhau exudes 1930s glamour and contemporary style. It is palatial, but understated, with patterned marble floors, bas-relief carvings and sparkling chandeliers, with beautiful flower arrangements all around. It even has its own art gallery. The terraced garden is just as spectacular, and is a delight on a balmy evening with music and cocktails. And the staff are totally charming, making you feel right at home. If you want to do Buenos Aires in style, this is your hotel.

Minimalist and very classy, the rooms and suites all have a soothing cream and brown palette, and are exceptionally spacious. The marble bathrooms, complete with a bath, are equally roomy, and views are over the gardens or the city. Some rooms come with a balcony, many interconnect for families, and the suites have a butler service.
food
The hotel is host to three restaurants, all in opulent settings. Classic Argentinian dishes and premium steak is cooked on open wood fires at Duhau Restaurante, all paired with wines from a very well stocked cellar. Attached is a Vinoteca where cheese tastings are held regularly, with the hotel’s Maître Fromager and sommelier creating unique pairings.
Dine on contemporary Italian cuisine at Gioia Cocina Botánica, where the focus is very much on plant-based sustainable ingredients, or a more international menu at Los Salones del Piano Nobile. And you definitely won’t be able to resist the pâtisserie.
activities
Known as the Paris of South America, there’s a fabulous mix of European-style architecture and Latin culture, with no end of things to see and do. Each weekend in Recoleta there’s an artisan market, with street musicians and acrobats performing amongst the exhibitors. San Telmo is also a good barrio to visit for antique markets. For colourful streets, head for La Boca, and great food, Palermo. And don’t leave town without taking a tango lesson. You should also make time for a visit to the hotel Spa – it’s one of the finest in the city.
family
Palacio Duhau is a luxurious and comfortable base for families during their stay in Buenos Aires – children under the age of 13 can stay for free on a roll-away bed in their parents’ room. There are children’s menus, and babysitting can be arranged.
sustainability
The hotel uses smart thermostats, energy efficient lighting and water saving measures. There are strict policies in place for waste management as well as reducing the use of plastic. Ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible, from sustainable producers.
