Awasi Mendoza – Argentina
In the foothills of the Andes, nestled in a vineyard, Awasi Mendoza sits in one of the world’s most spectacular wine regions. Named from the Quechua word “wasi” meaning house, the brand has created exclusive and unique retreats throughout Argentina and Brazil, evoking the feel of a well-loved home. Albeit a very luxurious one. The design is inspired by native culture and colonial history, with views out over lush pastures and craggy peaks.
The wine tours and tastings are a main feature of you stay, and horse riding through the landscape is an unforgettable experience. Awasi Mendoza is a bolt hole for wine lovers and a haven for those after an authentic gaucho adventure.

food
The farm to table restaurant serves exceptional food, celebrating Argentina’s rich culinary heritage. Much is grown in the lodge’s organic kitchen garden, with other ingredients locally sourced. Join a cooking workshop to learn some of the region’s gastronomic techniques. Naturally, the food here is paired with some very delicious estate produced wines, and the sommelier is always on hand with advice.
activities
At Awasi Mendoza, each guest is assigned a private guide and a 4×4, giving you the freedom to personalise your entire stay. With its location between two of Mendoza’s most acclaimed vineyards, a wine tour will feature first on your to do list. You’ll meet winemakers, learn about traditional winemaking techniques, explore the cellars and taste a lot of very fine Malbecs. At the right time of the year(March-April), you can take part in the grape harvest.
If hiking is your thing, you’ll want to explore the Aconcagua Provincial Park and journey to the base of the highest peak in the Andes. You can also horse ride from a local ranch into the mountains, with a picnic stop along the way.
family
As a wine lodge, Awasi Mendoza is geared towards adults. Children over the age of 13 are very welcome, although there are no specific activities.
sustainability
The Awasi brand is committed to the ecosystems in which the lodges are based, with a deep respect for surrounding nature. Solar panels generate much of the energy used, and grey water is recycled for irrigation. The kitchen gardens grow much of the produce, and there’s an organic composting system in place – and which is also used on the vineyards. The lodge works closely with the Agrelo community in supporting children’s education and nutrition.
