Spanning 300 square metres, this extraordinary Manhattan-style loft blends glass, steel, timber and textured concrete into a dramatic yet deeply atmospheric mountain retreat suspended above the village.
Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with light and frame sweeping views across Zermatt and the Mischabel mountains, while Julen’s handcrafted furniture and artistic details give the chalet its unmistakable personality. Despite its bold architecture, the loft feels warm, sociable and surprisingly intimate, centred around a spectacular living space with fireplace, piano and vast terrace. The loft sits high above central Zermatt with access via a private tunnel elevator leading directly from the village’s main street near the church square. Heinz Julen Loft sleeps six guests across three ensuite double bedrooms arranged over multiple levels. The main loft space includes two double bedrooms with Austrian twin beds and ensuite bathrooms, positioned within the dramatic open-plan living area. Hidden above the breakfast table staircase, the top-floor master suite features a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom and private jacuzzi bath. This upper level also includes the chalet’s private sauna and cross-country exercise machine. Both levels are connected by a private elevator as well as internal stairs.

Guests have easy access to Zermatt’s world-renowned ski terrain, with the Matterhorn Express and Gornergrat lifts both within walking distance. Winter days can be spent skiing, snowboarding or exploring glacier routes before returning to the loft for quieter evenings by the fire. The village itself offers excellent dining, lively bars, winter walking trails and boutique shopping, all just moments away from the chalet’s discreet private entrance.

Heinz Julen Loft is best suited to older families, couples or groups of friends who appreciate contemporary design and open-plan living. Its artistic layout and elevated features make it less suited to very young children, though family services and childcare can be arranged on request.
