Best Holiday Destinations for Families

6th March 2024

Being parents ourselves (with children ranging from age 1-21), we understand what makes an excellent family holiday and we won’t compromise. With our incredible portfolio of family friendly gems; our intimate knowledge of each of them; and our little black book of contacts and insider tips; we go above and beyond the average. We promise that your family holiday will be genuinely and lovingly tailor-made with all the detail taken care of.

We have something to suit every family during each of the school holidays. Read on to find out some of our favourite places to whisk your kids off to.

Why it’s perfect: Beautifully warm weather but without the stifling heat makes this a perfect time to opt for an action packed family holiday. Nowhere is better for this than the wonderful and remarkably good value Hillside Beach Club. Its spectacular range of water sports will keep children busy all week, while you can just soak up the rays by the crystal clear waters of the Aegean.

Hillside Beach Club

Why it’s perfect:  Summer starts early here and by the end of May temperatures are averaging 25C with around 10 hours of sunshine every day. Whether you’re after a spot of culture, come in Byzantine and Roman ruins, sailing the crystal clear waters, or just looking for stunning bays and secret coves to explore and hide away in, we have family hotels, villas and yachts for everyone.

Why it’s perfect: There’s no doubt that Marbella is a popular choice but our hotels lie away from the masses; from Moorish haciendas to old school exclusive glamour on the beach. Here, there is a genuine warmth for families and while you might head to the daybed, the children will love the Kids’ Clubs with every sport available under the Spanish sun.

Why it’s perfect: Whether sailing the coastline of Turkey or island hopping in Croatia or Greece, our sailing itineraries will delight any adventurous family. With spontaneity on your side you can avoid any summer crowds along the way. Our floating villas come with a team of local crew to cater for every need so you can just sit back, relax and focus on family time.

Why it”s perfect: While the Olympics will draw a crowd this summer, we recommend escaping the frenzy and heading to one of the islands or lavender filled Provence.  Cycle with the kids around the Ile de Ré or lesser known Ile de Yeu, feast on oysters and sardines and slow the pace right down.

Les Hautes Mer

Why it’s perfect: Pizzas, pasta and ice cream galore – a winning combination for any child! We love everything about Italy.  Tuscany is old school classic – here you can hide away from crowds, surround yourself in stunning countryside and feast on delicious produce. Whether you choose one of our villas or stunning hotels you just can’t go wrong.

Why it’s perfect: The windswept Atlantic Coast has perfect laidback vibes, whether surfing the waves or enjoying the vast stretches of beach. And the Algarve never fails to deliver; stunning hotels with Kids’
Clubs and all the frills to enchant and delight children and adults alike. Have a look at our villas too!

Why it’s perfect: East and South Africa are perfect at this time of year; dry and sunny (except Cape Town) weather combined with thrilling wildlife adventures will make for an unbeatable family holiday. Witness the Great Migration in Kenya and Tanzania, marvel at the majestic Victoria Falls, or choose a family friendly safari in the Kruger National Park. We can help craft the perfect itinerary.

Why it’s perfect: Only a six hour flight, Oman offers a sprinkling of Arabian magic and adventure on a different level. The Al Hajar Mountains in the north are cooler and perfect for hiking, dune bashing, star gazing or camel trekking, while Zighy Bay is the perfect beach retreat. All our hotels here are equipped with fabulous pools and facilities to keep the little ones happy.

Why it’s perfect: With the summer heat subsiding this is one of our favourite times to explore this magical country; from the hustle and bustle of ancient cities, its melting pot of cultures, mosques and souks to adventures in the towering Atlas Mountains and vast Sahara.  Only 3.5 hours from London and eight miles from Europe, Morocco will inspire and enthral children in equal measures.

Why it’s perfect:  Fewer tourists and more affordable, the Pearl of the Indian Ocean shines bright in October. While the southwest coast and hill country regions can experience tropical rains, the east coast is still lovely with temperatures rarely dropping below 25C.  Perfect for beach, surfing and watersports, in between visiting Buddhist temples, wildlife spotting in national parks and adventurous family hiking.

Sri Lanka

Why it’s perfect:  The summer season now extends into November, so October half term is perfect for those wanting to catch the last Mediterranean rays.  Expect average highs of 26C and a gorgeously warm sea.  Children will spend hours in the water and all our hotels offer exceptional watersports and top draw Kids’ Clubs for the younger children.

Why it’s perfect: Temperatures range from the mid-20s to low 30s at this time of year so this is a great time for exploring; hiking up Mount Teide, walking through lush forests or taking advantage of the many hotel activities – whether golf, tennis, kitesurfing or windsurfing. October also marks the beginning of the whale watching season.

Why it’s perfect:  East Africa is fantastic for families at this time of year and what better way to maximise the two week half term. Kenya and Tanzania still have excellent game viewing opportunities and the weather reliably warm, despite the occasional rainfall.  And if you’re looking for a safari beach combo the coast still has highs of 30C.

Why it’s perfect: Spending Christmas Day on the beach to stock up on some Vitamin D must be done at least once in your life. This is not one for the budget-conscious but if you can this has to be the best and most memorable Christmas present you can give your family. Just don’t forget to reassure younger children that Father Christmas visits here too!

Why it’s perfect: At this time of year, thick blankets of snow cover this vast wilderness, veiled in wintry darkness but with ethereal Northern Lights dancing across the polar sky, casting vibrant hues of green and purple. Husky sledging, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and reindeer safaris are just a few of the winter activities you can do here.

Swedish Lapland

Why it’s perfect: For a dreamy winter wonderland with guaranteed skiing! Here you will be swept up by the alpine magic with twinkling lights, festive decorations and the waft of mulled wine lingering in the air. Whether you choose our quite exceptional catered chalets or serviced chalets, we can promise you the cosiest family Christmas away from home.

Our Chalets

Why it’s perfect:  With perfect weather on the west and south coasts, this is an unsurprisingly popular time of year to visit. Sri Lanka packs an adventurous punch, but the people here make it effortless and accessible for families.
