With its prime beach spot on one of the Middle East’s most beautiful natural islands, just moments from the vibrant and cultural heart of Abu Dhabi, there’s a lot to explore at Saadiyat Rotana Resort. Its contemporary Arabic architecture sits rather majestically overlooking the Gulf, whilst the interiors are a regal mix of marble, glass, handmade carpets and sculptures, giving it a magnificent sense of place.
The surrounding islands are teeming with wildlife and the waters are a haven for endangered humpback dolphins and a number of species of turtles – Saadiyat Beach is an important hawksbill turtle nesting site. We love the airy and cool rooms and suites here, with the design bringing the outside in. They are simple and sophisticated, with arabesque detail. Neutral colours and splashes of blue lend them a beach house feel, whilst large open plan bathrooms and garden or sea facing balconies and terraces, give them lots of space. Rooms come with a king size bed or twins, and many can interconnect for families.
The one and two bedroom suites are wonderfully sized and very relaxing, whilst the very spoily one and two bedroom villas are steps from the beach and have their own pools.

There’s something to suit every palate at Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas, with Middle Eastern cuisine and a range of international options, across eight restaurants and bars. There’s roof top and beach front dining, all in a very relaxed atmosphere.
activities
The resort is perfectly placed for exploring the cultural heart of Abu Dhabi. Visit the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Manarat Al Saadiyat and the recently open Abrahamic Family House. The Al Zafarana souk and the Al Ain camel market will give you a real feel for this vibrant Middle East city. And if you time your visit right, there’ll often be a major sporting or cultural event. Further afield, there are bronze age tombs in the desert, in between rocky escarpments and oases – an awe inspiring contrast to the city.
You may decide you can’t peel yourself away from the beach, but if you feel the need for a bit of exercise, there are tennis and padel tennis courts and personal training services. The resort has its own pitch and putt, and close by for the more serious golfer, there’s the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club – a truly beautiful course, designed by Gary Player. Then of course, there is the Zen Spa – definitely worth a visit.
family
The kid’s club here is appropriately named Aladdin’s Cave. Extremely well-run, it offers fun and educational activities and comes with a cinema zone, pool, water slide and best of all, a lazy river. Babysitting can also be very easily arranged.
sustainability
Saadiyat Rotana respects its pristine marine and desert location and is fully committed to sustainable tourism. Its waste management practices, water and energy saving initiatives are accredited by internationally recognized agencies, and resort has banned all single use plastic.
