Grand Hotel Tremezzo – Lake Como, Italy

Grand Hotel Tremezzo – Lake Como, Italy

More of a palace than a hotel, Tremezzo was built in 1910 as a playground for society’s elite. Standing prominently on the shores of the crystalline Lake Como, in five acres of magnificently manicured gardens and subtropical parkland, commanding views over to Bellagio and the Grigne mountains, it is a sight to behold.

Step inside, and you’re overwhelmed by the top to toe opulent and lavish décor – silk and velvet fabrics, vast ornately framed mirrors, patterned wooden floors, vibrantly coloured walls and a lot of gold – all conjuring up la belle époque. Family-owned and run, with impeccable old-style service and superb cuisine, it is quite literally, a landmark.
