Chile is often described as a land of contrasts. Stretching along over 6,000km of Pacific coastline, it features the driest and highest desert on earth, smoking volcanoes amongst the towering Andes, fertile valleys and winelands, and the only temperate rainforests in South America. Culturally, it’s a colourful mix of indigenous – the Mapuche being the dominant people - Spanish and immigrant influences, with music and folk dancing at the heart.
It’s a country ripe for adventure. Kayak amongst icebergs, ride or bike through mountain passes, white water raft down glacial rivers, and trek through ancient forests. And relax in the evening, with a glass of local Carmenère.
