Villa Mare Dea – Dubrovnik, Croatia
Built into the hillside, just steps from the water, Villa Mare Dea is a fabulous contemporary villa, making the very most of its exceptional location. As you walk in, you’re immediately struck by the light and space and your eyes are drawn to what’s outside. The Adriatic sparkles through its almost entirely glazed frontage front and from the expansive terraces you look out over Kolocep Island – the last in the chain of the Elaphiti Archipelago.
The interiors are all cool whites and slick wood finish, with pure clean lines and easy open plan living. It is built over separate levels, with the entrance at the top, and a vast living area on the lower floor, leading directly onto the terrace and a set of stone steps down to the rocky shore. The master suite has a king size bed and dressing room, and the three remaining suites feature queen size beds. All but one look out over the sea. The terraces are furnished with custom made sun loungers and dining table, with and outdoor cooking facilities. Enjoy all the comforts of modern living, right next to one of Europe’s most historic cities.

It’s ideally located to dip in and out of Dubrovnik and enjoy everything the Adriatic has to offer. Explore Dubrovnik’s labyrinthine cobbled streets and piazzas, eat in the many cafes and restaurants that line the streets of the Old Town, and discover its galleries and shops. Just off the coast, stretching north, are the Elaphiti Islands – each being easily explored in a day. Surrounded by quiet beaches, and full of walking trails through lush pine forests, they are traffic free, laid back and utterly charming. And only three of them are inhabited. Explore on foot or charter a boat and linger in a small bay.
