Our Tropical Destinations

There is a tropical island for everyone

Sprawling archipelagos with hundreds of tiny islands sprinkled over turquoise seas, each one surrounded by precious coral reefs and an underwater world full of marine life, with perfectly white powdery sands and swaying coconut palms.  This is the surreal beauty you can expect on a tropical island. And what we love the most is that these little jewels sparkle with personality, each one with its own charm and character.

With 45,000 tropical islands peppered all over the world, we have picked our very favourite from the Caribbean and Indian Ocean; remote secluded havens with all the trimmings, faultless service and outstanding cuisine. Take us there NOW!

Read on to find your perfect magical island.

For those who love the beach

Tropical islands are made for fly and floppers! Warm year round, the allure of guaranteed sun, sparkling azure waters and white sands can be all too tempting.  These islands are perfect to escape life, to slow the tempo and unwind; imagine spending days stretched out on a sun lounger devouring book after book, feasting on incredible food, swimming in the crystal-clear turquoise seas and sipping on cocktails. We’re thinking Niyama Private Islands in the Maldives where the sand is whiter than white, the West Indian glamour at the Coral Reef Club in Barbados or the exceptional One and Only Le Saint Geran in Mauritius where you will sink into those vast day loungers and hide away all day long.

For the whole family

Whether Indian Ocean or Caribbean, these islands all scream luxurious family friendly holiday, where service is second to none and laidback vibes make little ones feel at home straight away.  For children this is real life Robinson Crusoe adventure, and they will be kept busy trying out every watersport under the sun, hiking wildlife-filled rainforests, mountains or volcanoes, fishing or exploring island life by bike. And for those with smaller children, the kids clubs are out of this world – think treehouses, tropical treasure hunts, climbing walls, film nights and doughnutting – where children come first.  Carlisle Bay in Antigua with its nine tennis courts and endless watersports, the exceptional kids club at Anantara Dhigu in the Maldives and the thoughtful touches at Constance Prince Maurice in Mauritius all spring to mind.

For the environmentally thoughtful

Although we’re thinking blue skies and seas, you would be surprised at how many of these island escapes are going green.  For rainforest eco chic we can’t recommend Secret Bay, Dominica highly enough – with just twelve sustainable luxury villas nestled in the canopy you will feel a million miles away. Built entirely from sustainably tropical hardwood, it also has a water filtration system, zero tolerance for single-use plastics and no food wastage.

Raffles, Seychelles also does luxury and eco extraordinarily well – it too has eliminated single-use plastic and is part of the Marine Conservation Society which helps protect the coral.  We love that guests can take part in coral planting activities here.  Six Senses Laamu in the Maldives is another shining example and works closely with marine biologists and the local community to protect native marine species.

For the active

From kayaking safaris, sailing, paddle boarding, snorkelling, kitesurfing, fishing, PADI courses, to tennis, squash or basketball and hiking, horse riding and cycling these islands are a treasure trove of activities and definitely not just for the floppers amongst us.  We love the all-inclusive Curtain Bluff in Antigua for its never-ending list of activities from tennis, squash or basketball and every watersport under the sun, or what about snorkelling by night and trekking through the rainforest to the peak of Gros Piton by day at Sugar Beach, St Lucia?  And then there is Paradis Beachcomber & Spa in Mauritius where you can swim with dolphins after hiking up Le Morne followed by perfecting your golf swing at the Golf Academy.

For the romantics

These stunning islands couldn’t be more perfect for couples or honeymooners looking for that ‘once in a lifetime’ trip. Perhaps it is being surrounded by seas, being just a tiny speck in the ocean that focuses the mind – and heart – on what really matters.  Our hotels are all super luxurious, whether you go for overwater thatched huts at Gili Lankanfushi or whether dining on a sandbank under the stars off the shores of Baros, the Maldives is an all-round winner on the romance front.   We also love the secluded Hillside Pool suites at Hermitage Bay in Antigua and being adult-only an added bonus. While Denis Private Island on Seychelles is as close to living on your own desert island as you can get with barefoot off-grid luxury perfect for getting away from it all.
