Munduk Cabins – Bali, Indonesia
High in the hills, in a remote part of the island – away from pretty much anything – Munduk Cabins is a serene and secluded retreat. The splendour of Bali is displayed panoramically around you – rainforest, volcanoes, and in the distance, the ocean. Suspended walkways in the tree canopy link the cabins, pool and restaurant, enveloping you in the native flora. Wake up each morning to the sound of birds and soak it all up from the privacy of your terrace.
This is the place to hole up and be pampered by an efficient and very welcoming team, or if you can muster the energy, to explore the surrounding lakes, waterfalls and temples.

These are not your archetypal cabins, but luxurious and slickly designed bolt holes. Glass walls bring the outside in, and large decks and terraces drink up the view. Interiors are delightfully airy and spacious, with wood panelled walls, hand crafted furniture – some feature fully equipped kitchenettes and one comes with a jacuzzi.
food
Dine on traditional Indonesian food in the glassed restaurant, or have it delivered to your cabin – you can even have breakfast in bed. Ingredients are fresh from local farmers and fishermen and celebrate the flavours of the region. For lunch, mooch to the Clove Bar for a sharing platter, or before dinner, sip a signature cocktail as the sun dips below the horizon.

For exploring the quieter parts of Bali, Munduk Cabins has an ideal location. Hindu temples dot the lakesides and rice terraces, including one of the island’s most photogenic temple – Ulun Danu Bratan – best visited early, whilst the forests hide waterfalls and hiking trails. You can even have a round or two of golf at Handara – approached through one of the most impressive gates you’ll see. Or, just come here for the peace, quiet and mountain air.
family
Romance definitely springs to mind here, but the Premium Two Bedroom Suite Cabin is ideal for families. With the elevated walkways and secluded nature of Munduk Cabins, it’s much more suitable for those with older children.

Seriously committed to the local environment and the island as a whole, Munduk Cabins used renewable energy and carefully manages it water usage. You’ll find no plastic here, and the team work hard to ensure that all suppliers have the same ethos. They also support many local initiatives to improve the lives of those around them.
