Lundies House – The Scottish Highlands, Scotland

Lundies House – The Scottish Highlands, Scotland

This stylish boutique hotel is a ‘Scandi-Scot’ haven in the Scottish Highlands. Nestled within the rural village of Tounge this guest house was once a former manse (a dwelling created for and inhabited by a Christian minister), dating back to the 17th century. It has now been beautifully renovated into a relaxing chic retreat.

Decorated to feel bright and airy whilst remaining homely, here you will find all the luxurious touches such as large free standing baths, Egyptian cotton sheets, underfloor heating and soaps by Aesop. It is the ideal place to explore the stunning Scottish Highlands and immerse yourself in wilderness without compromising on style or comfort. Ludies House has spectacular views looking towards the ruins of Castle Bharrich as the landscape opens into Kyle of Tongue and Tongue Bay.

Lundies house has been carefully remastered into a bespoke gem and is a slightly different concept to your standard hotel offering. It works on a family-style concept where guests can serve themselves drinks from the bar or snacks from the pantry, there are shared communal spaces to retreat in or chat to like-minded individuals and your stay is fully catered.

The accommodation here is split between the main house and the houses steadings (outbuildings). In the main house on the first floor there are 3 spacious and bright double bedrooms, all en-suite, featuring king-sized beds and free-standing baths. Occupying the whole of the top floor of the main house there is a small apartment, with a living room, bathroom and cosy bedroom.

This is the perfect room for those wanting a little more space and privacy. The houses converted outhouses now feature 3 contemporary courtyard studios.

food

A stay here is a fully catered experience with an emphasis on local food. Whether that is freshly caught seafood, locally sourced game, vegetables from the garden, dairy from the local farm or ingredients foraged from the forest. Breakfast comes with freshly baked bread and a choice of dishes, whilst the daily changing dinner menu is served at 7.30pm and consists of home-made bread, snacks, a starter, main and dessert, with the option of cheese and a wine pairing.

Guests dine separately from each other but at the same time in the elegant dining room. If you are after a private dining experience just let us know and the library can be reserved for you.

During your stay and if the weather allows you may get to experience a more communal dining experience outside in the courtyard where a three course BBQ style dinner will be cooked on the Feuering Grill. We love the idea of a pre-dinner gin & tonic sitting around the fire.

Location

Tounge, The Scottish Highlands

Lundies House is nestled in the village of Tounge in Sutherland. This area is remote and savagely beautiful. Think sea lochs meeting with heather-clad hills and wide-open landscapes. It is a key stopover destination on Scotland’s North Coast 500 route. The nearest airport is Inverness which is a 45 minute drive away. There are no trains up this North so renting a car is recommended or we can help organise transfers for you.
