La Coraline Island House – Panama

La Coraline Island House – Panama

On the west coast of Isla Colón, in a secluded Caribbean bay, La Coralina Island House is an exclusive and luxurious sanctuary. It is bathed in nature, surrounded by rainforest and a beach of pure white sand, offering guests a little slice of tropical paradise from which to explore the island. The design has distinct Balinese influences, and its atmosphere is a seductive blend of the far east and the Caribbean. It’s a place to unwind and savour a slower pace of life, exploring the islands and their abundant wildlife. And there’s no better place to end the day with a sundowner, than at one of the resort’s two beach clubs.

rooms

Thanks to the high ceilings, each of the rooms and villas is exceptionally spacious and light filled, and all enjoy views over the lush gardens, jungle or ocean, from their balconies and terraces. Interiors are characterful, with polished stone or wooden floors, whitewashed walls and custom made linens and hand carved detail. The villas feature one or two bedrooms and are wonderfully private.

food

Using fresh local and seasonal produce, the food at La Coralina is a tasty mix of Latin American flavours and international inspiration. Dine in elegant surroundings with ocean views in the main restaurant, or relax at one or other of the two exclusive beach clubs, with a platter of fresh seafood and sand in your toes.

activities

La Coralina Island House is a very special place just to unwind, spending time by the pool or on the beach. And possibly joining a yoga  session or two. However, it is also the perfect place from which to explore the island and the rest of the archipelago. Beach hopping can easily take a day or two of your time, as well as snorkeling or diving around one of the many coral reefs. These waters hold nearly 90% of the coral species found in the Panamanian Caribbean.

Keep an eye out for turtles – leatherbacks and the endangered hawksbills nest here. Kayaking or paddleboarding through the mangroves is an ideal way to wildlife spot, and if you’re up for something with more adrenalin, there’s some excellent surf spots nearby.

family

The retreat is very much geared to adults and couple looking for a peaceful getaway. The Two Bedroom Villas work perfectly for families with older children (aged 12 and over).

sustainability

The resort is committed to protecting the environment in which it sits. It was built using locally sourced, sustainable materials with no damage to the surrounding mangroves or coral, using a low impact design and eco conscious architecture. Rainwater is harvested for irrigation, all waste is carefully managed, and produce is locally sourced. It also runs an initiative to protect native ecosystems and educates local children on conservation and sustainability.
