Beaches and Wildlife Costa Rica Holiday

AN EXAMPLE 10 DAY TOUR COAST TO COAST ACROSS COSTA RICA

Go from coast to coast with this itinerary, visiting some of Costa Rica’s most famous national parks and experiencing its rich culture. Combine treetop adventures with wildlife spotting and enjoy some of the country’s best beaches. Read on to find out more.

Discover: San Jose & Puerto Viejo - Day 1 to 4

Start your journey in San Jose before travelling to Puerto Viejo, for a dose of Caribbean style living and essential beach time. You’ll hike the Cahuita National Park and have the chance to visit the Jaguar Rescue Centre, the Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge and the Kekoldi Indigenous Reserve. It’s also a great place to learn to surf. Somewhere you might stay is the Hotel Aguas Claras, cocooned in dense jungle, with the beach just a few minutes’ walk

Explore: Arenal - Day 5 to 7

Next stop is Arenal to explore the Místico Hanging Bridges, enjoy rainforest treks around the base of Arenal volcano, the only conical volcano in Costa Rica, and experience the exhilaration of ziplining. You can also kitesurf or kayak on the lake, or relax in a hot spring. We love the idea of staying in the welcoming Hotel Arenal Kioro Suites and Spa, nestled at the base of the volcano.

Discover: Manuel Antonio - Day 7 to 10

Journey to Manuel Antonio National Park – the smallest in the country, and one of the most biodiverse. It’s likely you’ll see sloth, monkeys and deer as well as a large number of flora and fauna species. Take a guide through the park; horse ride on the beach; kayak through the mangroves, or snorkel over the coral.

Your final stay for this journey would be somewhere like the Parador Resort and Spa, overlooking the shimmering Pacific Ocean and embraced by 12 acres of wildlife-rich tropical rainforest, before heading back to Juan Santamaría International Airport for the journey home.
