food
A stay here is a gastronomic pleasure, with the focus very much on authentic Italian and Sardinian dishes, and deliciously fresh seafood. Topping the list is Gusto by Sadler, the Michelin starred signature restaurant – where regional dishes are given a contemporary twist, demonstrating the unique flavours and culinary traditions of the island. At Mirto, the menu encompasses the food of the Mediterranean, with a range of classic and modern dishes.
For light lunches and snacks, you don’t need to stray far from the Pool Bar, and you couldn’t stay here without tasting the exceptional pizzas from the poolside food truck.
activities
Sardinia is an island for everyone, and Baglioni is an ideal place from which to explore it. There are water sports galore, with kayaking, paddleboarding and sailing – including days out on a chartered yacht or speed boat taking you along the coast to enjoy its islands and beaches. The diving in these waters is exceptional, thanks to the very clear water, and local dive guides can take you to the best spots.
The resort has both a tennis and padel court, with a coach on hand for all levels, and golfers are spoilt for choice with two courses close by. Active guests might choose to trek inland; canyon on Rio Pitrisconi or horse ride along the beach. The cooking classes are always popular, especially the ones hosted by chefs of Gusto – learn traditional Sardinian techniques; how to make the best pasta, and then feast on the fruits of your labour. Sardinia produces some excellent wine, and the neighbouring San Teodoro Estate runs tours and tastings. Explore the marine reserve and venture inland to visit some of the island’s historic sites – there are literally thousands. For a more relaxed approach, the beautifully designed Spa has a wealth of treatments, and there are also daily yoga sessions. You can safely say, you’ll never be bored.
family
If you’re looking for a small resort that welcomes families with open arms, this is it. The kid’s club is a friendly, well-run place for guests between four and 12, with a programme of indoor and outdoor activities. There’s much exploring of local nature, swimming and arts and crafts. The resort also offers babysitting.
sustainability
Every aspect of Baglioni Resort has a focus on sustainability, especially due to its precious location with the Tavolara Marine Reserve. From the restaurants prioritising local suppliers, to recycled fabric being used for pool furniture. There are energy saving and waste reduction methods in place, and much of the décor is designed and produced by local artisans.
