Ski Area

Part of the Arlberg ski area – Austria’s largest – Oberlech is directly linked to St Anton, Zürs and St Christoph. With 300km of groomed pistes, and a further 200km of off piste runs, linked by an efficient network of 85 lifts, there are pistes for all levels of skier.

Pistes

Above the treeline, the pistes around Oberlech are wide and relatively gentle. The village is perfect for beginners, and it’s a good starting point for the White Ring – the legendary 22km circuit linking Lech, Zürs and Zug. Expert skiers will want to tackle the Langer Zug – one of Austria’s steepest groomed descents, as well as some of the area’s best off piste terrain.

Restaurants

Oberlech might be small, but there are plenty of fabulous places to eat. For excellent modern regional cuisine, and a very well-stocked wine cellar, book a table at the Lechtaler Stube at the Burg Hotel. We also love the Griggeler Stuba – a cosy, wood panelled restaurant where the menu has an imaginative Japanese twist. The cable car runs until 1am, so there’s plenty of opportunity to dine out in Lech in the evenings, with an atmospheric ride home.

Après ski

It’s an exclusive affair when you come off the slopes in Oberlech. Think sunny terraces with champagne and oysters. The Eisbar No 1 at the Burg Hotel is a favourite spot to enjoy the last rays of the sun. Or ski down to Lech and relax at the Schlegelkopf, or the Ski Lounge at the Hotel Pfefferkorn.

Unique to Oberlech

Thanks to being car-free, the hamlet has the blissful charm of days gone by. Couple this with being renown as one of the sunniest spots in the Arlberg.
