Hotel Post Lech Arlberg, Austria

Hotel Post Lech Arlberg, Austria

Hotel Post Lech Arlberg has been owned and run by the Moosbrugger family since the 1930’s, when Alpine skiing was pioneered in Austria. And whilst the décor and facilities may have changed over the years, the impeccable Tyrolean hospitality remains at the very core. In the exclusive resort of Lech, and a member of Relais & Châteaux for over 40 years, the hotel is regarded as one of the finest places to stay in the Arlberg.

It has a style all of its own, decorated with hand painted walls and vintage furniture, enveloping you in its unique charm. The restaurants too are characterful, and lauded for their first class cuisine. Outside, it’s just a short walk to the immaculately groomed slopes surrounding the village, and the lifts taking you to the entire Arlberg ski area.

rooms

Each and every room has its own character – no two are the same. With rustic furniture, antique fittings, and hand painted detail, they are all cosy and welcoming, with a fairy tale air – especially the Postillion Room and Herzog Suite. From single and double rooms to larger suites that can sleep up four guests, they come with views of the Vorarlberg mountains, the village or the neat gardens. Opposite the main house is Chalet Säge – a charming winter hideaway for families.

food

The hotel boasts no fewer than four restaurants, and a terrace for dining in the sun. And whilst they have their different specialties, they all focus on regional cuisine and Austrian classics. Postblick Panorama Restaurant is a modern dining space with fabulous views over Lech. For fondues and hearty dishes, Emostube promises a cosy evening. Kutscherstube offers a traditional setting with local specialties, and Jägerstube is the hotel’s impressive fine dining offering with classic dishes given a modern interpretation.

activities

The village of Lech is part of the vast Arlberg ski area, with access to over 300km of pistes and 200km of off piste terrain. The slopes around Lech are perfectly suited to beginners and intermediates, but is also home to the Langer Zug – one of the steepest groomed slopes in the world. The fast network of 85 lifts takes skiers across the entire area, one which is also well-known for its snow record. There’s a good network of cross country skiing trails from the village, as well has hiking and snowshoeing paths for non-skiers. Come off the slopes a bit early and enjoy the Spa, or take a dip in the heated outdoor pool, which boasts very dramatic views.

family

Being a family run hotel, it is only natural that it welcomes families with typical Austrian charm. Many of the rooms can accommodate up to four guests, and there’s a dedicated children’s pool with a slide, and a playroom. There’s a good selection of local ski schools nearby, and when you’re not on skis, families can ice skate, toboggan and trot through Lech on a horse drawn sledge.

sustainability

Aligned with the Lech Zürs commitment to sustainable tourism and as a member of the Climate Neutrality Pact, the hotel is dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint. It supports local carbon offset projects and focuses on eco-friendly practices throughout. Produce is sourced locally, including ingredients from its own flock of sheep. There are also plant rich menus to reduce its environmental impact.
