We’re delighted to share that Egypt has joined the F&P Travel collection.
In June, Philippa and Jo travelled through this land of timeless wonders – from the golden temples of Luxor to the palm-fringed banks of the Nile. As with all discovery trips, they were on the lookout for soulful stays and unforgettable experiences for our F&P guests. Along the way, they uncovered elegant hideaways, expert guides, and incredible history at every turn.
Egypt offers a holiday like no other. It’s impossible not to be captivated by its timeless beauty, rich heritage, and extraordinary experiences – and now, we can help you experience it at its most extraordinary. Read on to find out all about it.
Where Africa Meets the Middle East: Cairo’s Cultural Crossroads
Often described as the ‘Mother of Africa’, Egypt is where Africa and the Middle East meet in a captivating cultural crossroads. Nowhere is this more palpable than in Cairo, where the rhythm of modern life weaves around ancient wonders. Minarets rise beside colonial facades, while bustling souks echo with stories of centuries past.
To stand before the Pyramids of Giza and gaze at the inscrutable face of the Sphinx is to feel time collapse – a moment that hushes even the most seasoned traveller. And with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, Egypt’s rich heritage is now displayed in a dazzling, modern setting, making the past feel vibrantly alive.
A Journey Along the Nile: Timeless and Unforgettable
No journey through Egypt feels complete without time on the Nile, where life unfolds as it has for millennia along its palm-fringed banks. In Luxor and Aswan, the grandeur of ancient Thebes comes vividly to life with temples rising from the sands, their carvings still whispering stories of gods and kings.
For those with time, the remote majesty of Abu Simbel is unmissable – its colossal statues carved deep into desert rock, made even more powerful by their isolation.
The Nile cruise itself is a drifting dream. Whether aboard a traditional dahabiya with billowing sails or a more luxurious vessel with every modern comfort, the pace is gloriously slow. As the sun sets and the river turns molten gold, G&T in hand, it becomes a moment every photographer dreams of capturing.
The Valley of the Kings: A Window into Eternity
Among Egypt’s many highlights, the Valley of the Kings left a particularly lasting impression on Philippa and Jo. This sun-scorched sweep of desert is where more than sixty pharaohs were laid to rest, hidden beneath the earth in tombs carved deep into limestone.
The ancient Egyptians believed in the balance of life and death – living on the fertile east bank of the Nile and burying their dead on the west, where the sun sets and the journey to the afterlife begins.
Descending into the tomb of Tutankhamun, it’s almost impossible to grasp that this boy king lay undisturbed for over 3,000 years before Howard Carter’s remarkable discovery in 1922. The vivid colours on the walls remain astonishing. It’s a place that humbles and awes in equal measure, offering a true glimpse into the beliefs, artistry, and ambitions of one of history’s greatest civilisations.
Crafting Your Own Egyptian Adventure
After days spent wandering through Egypt’s timeless treasures gazing up at the Pyramids, tracing hieroglyphs in ancient temples and drifting along the Nile, it’s often quite nice to swap the dust of history for the shimmer of the Red Sea. You can easily extend your stay and have a relaxing end to your Egypt adventure.
Egypt is a destination that lingers long after you return home. Whether you’re a passionate historian, a keen photographer, or simply curious to explore somewhere extraordinary, Egypt delivers in spades.
Philippa and Jo look forward to crafting journeys as individual as you are, with every itinerary thoughtfully designed around your interests, pace, and priorities, ensuring your Egyptian adventure is truly your own.
